Horse slaughter is inherently cruel, and horsemeat may be toxic to humans due to the wide range of drugs that horses receive over their lifespans, which puts consumers at risk. Furthermore, the environmental and economic impacts of these plants devastate communities -- plants that previously operated in the U.S. polluted local water supplies, lowered property values, and drained local economies.
Please make a brief, polite phone call to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources at (573) 751-3443 and tell them to deny any and all permits to Rains Natural Meats. You can simply say: "I would like you to please deny permits to Rains Natural Meats because horse slaughter plants pollute the environment and destroy communities."

In addition to state action, please contact your legislators to suport the SAFE Act to Ban Horse Slaughter Nationwide and prevent the transporting of horses across international borders for butchering.
